Any advice you have for other new and somewhat established designers who strive to achieve your level of success?

AW: Be realistic and true to yourself. Really, everything comes from home. Do your research. Make sure you have advice and helping hands. Live and learn. . .

Where do you see Alek Wek 1933 Ltd. in five years?

AW: Definitely evolving. I don't necessarily want mass production. I want to grow as a person. Focus on making sure it fits, it's delivered on time. Understand 110% of the business before I start going [forward].

What are the fall trends for your Wek 1933 bags?

AW: Fall will be a continuation of spring but more shapes that go with idea of being on the road. More use of fabrics, leather, alligator that go with all shapes, texture- fall colors. It should not be very dark but prints.

One final question for you. (laughs) Who is your favorite West Coast designer?

AW: Rick Owens. I love to mix and match.
