show review: Zumanity @ New York, New York (Las Vegas)

Lust, libido and desire surge throughout Cirque du Solei's Zumanity. Be transported into an unpredictable yet glamourous realm filled with visual spectacle and passionate desire. The show opens with a parading fashion show filled with a colorful cast of characters exuding powerful personalities. Look for the 30 foot long cape that glides across the stage filling the entire floor!

Emcee drag queen, Joey, is a titillating hostess with a diva-like demeanor. As she casually insinuates sexual references, the audience falls into uproarious laughter. She finds the most conservative couples in the audience and asks them sexually probing questions. She asked an old man, "do you use viagra?" He replied, "I have to!"

Americans have always had a stigma regarding public displays of sex and nudity. Zumanity attempts to bring light unto American prudeness with comedy and a heavy dose of European culture--and it does a great job. This underground world of androgyny, sadomasochism and the physical act of love will have you questioning your own sexuality. What is love? What is beauty? What is your deepest desire? While serious issues about sexual practices are presented, tension is relieved with hilarious skits. Nude cheerleaders and the dancing blow-up doll were some of my favorites.

Zumanity is a celebration of sex and beauty of the nude human figure. Wet sensual bodies intertwine as they lose their innocence and experience love for the first time. As they dive into a fishbowl of hidden desires and fluidity, they display a variety of contortionist poses-- their bodies eventually become one. A strength act between a man and woman simulate the act of making love producing a sacred balance of several amazing positions.

In the world of Cirque du Solei, the possibilities are endless and imagination has no bounds. In this show, one is able to see their inner desires and fantasies come to life. Enter Julia, your typical naughty school girl...well not so typical. This petite waif gyrates and swivels her hips as she controls the rings that rotate around her small frame. She flies into the air, upside down, rings rotating around her and vanishes into the sky. Her performance is exhilarating and will have you sitting at the edge of your seat. And for the women, hunky Alex Castro dances and reveals his most important asset in a sexy strip tease. Rotating topless beauties surround him while a screaming crowd begs for more.

Bring an enormous sexual appetite. Have an orgy with the cast members. Discover the true meaning of sex and the role love has to play when it comes to lust and desire. Zumanity is your pain, your pleasure, your tribal calling and invitation to participate in an un-waning orgasmic sexual experiment.
